it could...witch hazel is very gentle so it definitely won't hurt to try it...just look for a trial size first and then if it works, get a bigger container. it doesn't matter what brand. all witch hazel is pretty much the same. good luck and let me know if it works...then i might try it on my oily face! :D

Witch Hazel and other astringents can strip your face of oils and that actually CAUSE and aggravate acne.
I would stick to a mild cleanser like Basic or Purpose brands because they are gentle on your face.
If you have really bad acne, maybe wash with the mild soap and then add benzoyl peroxide on the pimples themselves, rather than on your whole face.

I've never tried witch hazel...but, I fight with my skin constantly. It gets SO oily...an hour after I puton my makeup..it looks gross..something that has really worked for me? A face lotion by Neutrogena...It's called Oil free Moisture. It was about $8 for 4 oz. It even out your face..keeps the dry moisturized and the oily under control. I use it in the morning under my makeup or even when I'm not going anywhere. I use Differin on my face at night, and it dries it out BAD, this really helps. My face doesn't get quite so oily anymore...but, it takes a while..I didn't see an improvement until recently..been using it for around 2 months.

No, it is very irritating to your skin. Salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide are good for oil and acne.

You'd probably be better off with proactive or some oil-cleansing wash.

it is less drying than alcohol, but when I used it it did not work that well...the cheap brand is just as good as the expensive.
