I suppose you could mean the Greek God of Wine: Bacchus (also known as Dionysus) or if you mean the liqueur, it would be Brandy..............

Wow! Your harking back to my own fine arts training in old painting methods and materials of the great masters. It's a euphemism for vinegar. I'd have to sit and remember what the application of it was, technically; hope this helps.
