He had the new Video Card installed by a friend but now he has no sound at all. Does installing the new video card do something to the sound? Do you have to disable the old card and enable the new? Any help would be great.

Thank you.

I agree with the above answers, However, I have seen many programs that use the sound card "mess up" the sound card's drivers when you install them.

I recommend that you uninstall your sound card drivers. SHUT DOWN computer. NOT REBOOT! WAIT 2-5 Minutes, then restart computer and let Window Reinstall the sound cards drivers.

There are system calls that allow a device to run properly on your system - typically these are called IRQ's. It is quite possible that the new video card took one of the IRQ's used by the sound card due to improper uninstallation of the old video card, then installing another video card. That would be the first place I'd look

Check the sound card connection unless it is an integrated card. The system should recognize the card change. It was not an integrated video card right? If so, you have to bypass it in the system bios and then have it recognized that way. Otherwise, you will confuse your system and the sound can be cut off
