Maybe because they too might want to serve their country. I don't understand why anyone has a problem with this. If someone is willing to risk their lives to save me and my way of living, more power to them.

You don't need to be a brain surgeon to fight and shoot a weopon. I think it makes sense to recruit drop outs. Think about it, without a high school education, your chances of making it in the world get relatively slim. If you join, you learn discipline and get paid and get training that could be valuable later in life. Many people also recieve a sense of value and worth and a sense of belonging that many drop outs don't have. Same with convicts, if they get out of jail and learn discipline and can get skills they would not have otherwise, the opportunity the military offers is worth it. You act like we are recruiting these people to be scientist and doctors for crying out loud.

National guard is running thin and most of the people like me would not even consider allowing my 19 year old become cannon fodder foe a bunch of people that don't want us there or appreciate us there.

That doesn't surprise me, they also take criminals. A met a guy the other day who got busted with a whole lotta coke, the judge gave him a choice between prison and signing up...so he joined the air force...how lucky we are.

Well the use to recruit people who were being sentenced to jail time. They seem to like to keep their miltitary dumb and immoral.
