Heck no, D&D is alive and kicking. I belong to a group that plays twice a month, and has been for the last four years. However, it can be hard to get another group started if yours has died off, particularly in some areas.
Ask around your regional hobby and bookstores, try AccessDenied.net and look into the RPGA in your area.

I've played tabletop versions of several RPG's and I still do when I have the chance. It's fun, it's also more social than PC gaming and requires old fashioned skills such as reading, math, problem solving and teamwork.

Other gamers include fantasy authors Mercedes Lackey and Larry Dixon. Gaming is a great way to spark creativity.

Definately not. People still play but I think as we get older it's harder to find people to play with. Just check out a local hobby store or put up a flyer.

I find that family life and careers have all but dissolved our group. But I do agree that online gaming has "thinned the herd" of the future potential tabletop RPGers.

No offence, of course, to geeks, as I am one, just obviously not that much
