I didn't really like the movie, but I am a huge fan of the stage version. After being a fan almost since the show originally opened on Broadway in 1996 and seeing it ten times, I was kind of nervous for the movie. I was sure it couldn't possibly be as energetic and moving as the play.
The movie wasn't as bad as it could have been - a few years earlier there was a script buzzing around the Rent community that not only cut out most of the songs but involved JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE starring as Mark - but I was still very disappointed. The movie is a very mediocre one, and - with a story that original and good - it could have [and should have] been an amazing one. The only saving grace of the movie, I feel, is the cast - deciding to get almost the entire original Broadway cast of the movie was a very good decison!
Whoa, sorry, I think I get on a bit of a tangent when Rent is the topic. :D If you liked the movie at all, I really, really hope you have had the chance to see the show! Its so much better.

I loved it. Two major gripes: #1 You don't cut musical numbers out of a musical!!! #2: I personally think they chose the wrong ending for the theatrical release. I would much rather have had them all back onstage at the end with Angel. There are few movies that everytime I watch I will go back and watch all deleted scenes and an alternate ending, but this is one. Favorite songs? None really. But "Out Tonight" and "La Vie Boheme" are great numbers.

i loved it too! I love Rent...the only thing is for some reason the end tended to get a little long....I don't know why because when i saw it live it seemed like it flew. My favorite song is "Light my Candle" Angel Rules!!!

the cost on the theater is outragous. We often flow to the shop and hire a movie. it fairly is far greater low-cost, and greater soft at homestead. If there is an extremely reliable movie we've been waiting for, hardly, we flow to the theater.

Loved it. Music was better than the movie, though. It was better before it was made into a movie - when it was just a stage show. Sweetie, the stage show is better than the movie. By far.
