previous tenant used a bath mat of some kind and it left some kind of stain (not sure if it's some kind of adhessive or mold, etc). i've scrubbed with Tilex and it's removed most of it, but there's some deep stain that won't come out. what can i use to fix this?

Those magic erasers clean just about anything! Seriously, they are awesome in the tub!

Unfortunately, porcelain is somewhat porous, and will hang onto some stains. If it is under the bath mat,why worry? You could try bleach.Fill the tub with a small amount of water 1 inch or so, and pour about 1/2 cup of bleach, and leave it for as long as you can.CLR is a good product, but you will need a stiff scrub brush after letting it sit for awhile. You can find CLR almost anywhere cleaning products are sold.Good Luck.

take some sort of oil (olive or baby oil) , drench a cotton ball with the oil and wipe it on th stain, then take your blow dryer and make sure you turn it onto high and make sure it is really hot then aim the blow dryer at the specific stai so you can heat up the oil, dont let the oil get cold, so then you scrub and turn on really hot water on to a terry cloth and wring out all of the hot water and then wipe off the oil, it should come off almost right away, doing it twice will definately get the stain off

A pumis?? stone will do the trick. I'm not sure how to spell it, but I think it's pronounced, puh - miss. Sorry about the grammar.
I used this on my porcelain toilet to remove a stain and was amazed. You will think that it will, but it won't scratch the porcelain.
It's worth a try.

Try using CLR or Lime Away...those usually work well.

Use undiluted bleach on it. If that doesn't take it out then most likely nothing will.
