I think it should be. Not all holidays are happy ones. This is a day we should always remember and never forget what happened and why. Memorial Day just doesn't seem appropriate. There should be 9/11 as a "Day of Remembrance". I think the families of all who were lost on that horrible day would be honored we just didn't forget. Nor should we. This can happen again to anyone and anywhere in the USA.

NO! I don’t believe we should celebrate one of the saddest days in American history. The loved ones and friends that lost someone that day will have they’re own way of dealing with that day every year. They do not need America celebrating. It will never be forgotten by them or anyone that lived through that day. Also because of that day we are still fighting a war that no one will ever win. And look at all the lives that have been lost since then because of it. I believe NATIONAL HOLIDAYS should be days of celebration not mourning…

I disagree. Holidays are usually for celebration and I don't want to celebrate 9/11.

No, it shouldn't be. There's nothing to celebrate. Most of us were affected by 9/11, but a moment of silence or a memorial every year should suffice. No need to have a free day off work!

No.... absolutly not! I witnessed everything from my 16th floor dining room window. I watched my neighbors come home bloody and dirty with soot and pulverized buildings and bodies. I saw airplanes crash into building and buildings fall to the ground. I watched WTC smolder for months. Holidays are for celebrations and happiness. Sept. 11th should be a solmn day of reflection -- not a beer drinking, hot dog eating holiday.

I don't see a reason why not there are several holidays set for remembrance already. Even though majority of people go to work on this day school's and some offices do recognize this and hold moments of silence.

No, because we didnt win. We haven't caught who was responsible for it, we didn't win independence, we aren't the victors yet. Plus, it hasn't been long enough. If so, then we should make hurricane Katrina a holiday, and the San Francisco earthquake, and the days famous people got shot, and that night club that collapsed should be remembered too...

I don't think so. It was a tragic event that will never be forgotten by this generation and be taught in every school for generations to come. To make it a holiday (a celebration) just seems wrong in this case.
