Be there for her. Comfort her. Keep negative feelings toward the betrayer at bay. Sometimes friends forgive their partners and then resent the things we have said or feel uncomfortable knowing our feelings toward that person. Support her in her decisions. You are her friend that is your soul purpose in this situation. There is not much you can say but there is a lot you can listen to. Try to assure she did not do something wrong that made this happen. Try to keep her self~esteem up. (reminding her what a great person she is) Hope this helps. I am in a very similar situation. My friend's husband of 30yrs has had many affairs. The last one was with a much much much younger person. I see the hell she goes through and I just want to take her pain away. I feel for you and your friend.

first give her your shoulder to cry on then listen to what she has to say and tell her at lease shes a strong women and she'll make it without him and you'll always be there to help her no matter what. Then let her cry some more to get it out of her system. Then try to keep in contact with her for a few months so that way it will help her until she's over him.

Start out pointing out all the good things about her. Then point out that if they have been together 21 years without him attempting to marry her, she is better off without him. It may not seem like it to her at this time, but she deserves far more then what she has gotten from him over the years! She needs to know that she is WORTHY, and if she is a friend of yours, then she must be worth something!

If you are her friend, you don't have to say much. Just let her know you are there, and will be whenever she needs you. There is no reasoning or rationale for anyone to follow here. Love is the only thing you can really give.

WELL THATS A REAL HARD SUBJECT. I HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR 35 YEARS AND I CAUGHT MINE TODAY BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS JUST LISTEN AND BE THERE FOR HER NO MATTER WHAT SHE DECIDES TO DO.
