As you can see my my avatar, I am a lifelong Leafs fan and I hang my head when I say they will not. Andrew Reycroft in goal? All of the big name players that came up this offseason and they signed Kubina? What about Savard? Chara? Havlat? Pronger? Geez, they couldn't even attract Shanahan who was interested. Ferguson has got to go before the Leafs can make a run. Maurice may do a good job with the younger players, but I am resigned to the fact that the Leafs may not make the playoffs again....as much as it hurts me to say that.

No.
1. Raycroft has a 50/50 of becoming a good goalie, or having a year like he did last season.
2. They want to sign players such as lindros and O'neil. Go with a youth movement, and get the rebuilding stage over with.
3. It's time to move on and get a new captain. Sundin would have been an even better player else where in the NHL.
4. Ottawa, Buffalo, Montreal are all 10x better than the Leafs this season.

the thing with the Toronto Maple Leafs that always before a new season begins the media pounds it in the Leafs fans heads that they are going to take it all every year but the Leafs organization has never been one for the Stanley cup its always been about how much money they could bring in that's what the Leafs have been all about for over 40 years. when the leafs signed Gill and Kubina in the paper the very next day it was saying they are ready for the cup give it up.

Decent is not good enough for a city like Toronto. They demand more. A lot more.

The team itself is definitely better then last years. One, we dont have a old and injury prone goalie in net anymore. Two, we at least have four good d-men now with Kubina and Gill coming to Toronto.

Good enough to make the playoffs, but nothing short of the Cup is acceptable in Toronto.

Decent? Yes. Overpowering? Probably not. It all depends on whether Raycroft works out for them in net and if the new additions (and the jettisoning of a few dead weights) create the right dynamic for the team.

Take it from a Rangers fan - having big names doesn't mean having a lot of wins. If the character guys on the club can pull through for the Leafs, they have a chance at the playoffs.

no. all toronto fans need to sit back and come to grips with the fact that the maple leafs are not this gifted, wonderful team that they seem to think they are every year. every season i hear the same crap - "leafs rule!". rule what? this team needs a major overhaul with the focus on some of the "potentially" great young players they have.

Decent is a relative term especially with Toronto hockey. If you compare what the ML expectations are and say the Predators....decent is highly subjective.

Decent team Yes, Good team No.
solid D, but still need alot of work on F and suspect in G. Think they'll probably be middle of the pack in the East. But not contending this year.
