I got a cell phone, payed for it with my credit card and then i returned the phone b/c it sucked. i gave them all the right papers and they said i should still get the rebate check as the rest of my refund. i never got it and they have the phone!! they said they cant give me another one b/c i migh cash both!! they're not apart of the better business bureau. i try to talk to the people that work there and they take my # and say the district manager will call me. never did. now when i call the store they wont answer when i call from my cell phone. the rebate was $150.00. this has been going on since may. what can i do? it feels like i've tried everything!!

ok people dont read. i said i already tried the bbb and they're not apart of it and that i did return the phone!!!!

You can call the credit card company and tell them to cancel the charge and investigate. You will have to return the phone though, hope they don't have a 30 or 60 day return policy. That's why Walmart is so cool, you can return something months later with no fees. They just started carrying Verizon stuff.

Just as a rule of thumb, I don't do rebates unless I would get whatever at the price if there wasn't rebate. That way if I get the rebate, great, but I don't look at the adjusted price as the price to justify the purchase.

Call your credit card company. They often have consumer protection. Tell them the phone doesn't work, and they won't exchange it. Give them YOUR side of the story, don't argue for the phone company.

Sometimes this protection is limited in time so do it ASAP. It's very helpful, b/c they control the dollars.

I did read your question and no one is "apart of the bbb", there are companies that report to the bbb because they want to look good with them so when people look them up its like free advertising. The bbb is a government org to help consumers deal with businesses.
