Neither.

They both acted childish. But at least Materazzi was only verbal, Zidane attacked him physically.

I'm on Zidane's side. Zidane has the most class out of almost any soccer player in history. For Materazzi's case, he deserved 110 % of his punishment. Zidane is a very peaceful guy who only got 4 red cards in his career including the one on Sunday. Sources say that a lip reader read Materazzi's lips. All that the translator told the press was that Materazzi told Zidane he "wishes an ugly death for him and his family, and to go **** himself". Zidane doesn't take crap from anyone and gave Materazzi a headbutt for his family's sake and his own

Wow...I didn't realize how cultures can be so different sometimes when it comes to sports. This stuff and stuff worse than this is said on the National Football Fields and National Basketall Association court here in America. So Materazzi said something mean about Zidane's sister and mother. WHO CARES....grow up, he was trying to get under your skin and he succeeded.

To the person above me ......what are you 7?
Materazzi is a genius.

Zidane's, because he is a great man and a great player. Who knew Materazzi (apart from the Italians) before this incident? He's a nobody in comparison with Zizou!

Materazzi replaced into incorrect for particular he shouldnt do this yet what Zidane did replaced into very stupid. he's football participant and he's conscious that one of those insults ensue in football tournament each of the time. Are you putting forward that all and dissimilar the gamers ought to head butt like what Zidane did ? It wasn't a usual tournament it replaced into the WC very last Zidane ought to ve reacted in a unique way. i'm an Italian fan yet i imagine they both were incorrect so i'm not likely to be with anybody.

Zidane definitely, because reaction follows provocation.
It's too easy to fault Zidane like so many have done so far without realising that the repeated insults and provocation is what should be sanctioned first.
