First, we have to establish that our laws are based on beliefs about how we should live as a society. Therefore, all legislature will have to legislate some form of morality. Otherwise there would be chaos and humanity would not be able to thrive.
Humans are flawed individuals, always susceptible to vile and dishonest behavior. We elect our officials, so it is our job to call them on their behavior if they are being dishonest or vile. However, I think our options are often limited in elections: we are presented with a choice of replacing one dishonest politician with another. So this vicious cycle of corruption is allowed to continue.
The best solution I can see is election reform. Campaign finance reform is badly needed (too many elections are bought and paid for by individuals and corporations with large bank accounts long before election day). As well as measures to give smaller political parties a bigger place in the media and in elections in general.

they can't and do not intend too. Politics are a rich mans game and we are the fools buying in to it.
middle class Reps and Democrats need to stop fighting each other and fight against the rich and form our own middle class party. We have the numbers to vote out these corrupt criminals. But someone needs to stand up and rally the middle class!

Too common. each ruling majority receives to legislate funds and also you should argue that the midsection of liberal techniques about "social justice" are rooted in morality. yet I see your element from the vantage element of the previous decade (a minimum of) and certain there is no denying the Republicans have, with the help of & large, hanged the hats with the Christian fundamentalist and Democrats are literally attempting to undo the damage Slick Willy did even as he deregulated the banks.

Well at least when a republican is caught is a scandal - he is removed from the party. Lott, Delay, and Burns.
When a democrate is caught in a scandal - he or she is idolized and protected by the party. Kennedy, Jefferson, Clinton are shinning examples.

In my opinion, there is a much larger question:
Why do voters keep sending these people back to Washington?

Because we keep voting for them. Who is the bigger fool? The fool or the fools that keep voting for them?
