Years ago one of my first jobs was telemarketing.....(but I'm feeling much better now!), and if I remembered nothing else, I remebered this: short of getting a tele-zapper, If you tell a solicitor "Take my name off your list" they have to do it. You may have to do that a couple of time as it's more than one company calling you at a time, but that should begin to dwindle down

Now bill collectors....I wouldn't advise that. You're on your own, I'm afraid.

I am on the do not call list. However, I still get them from companies I have had previous or current dealings with (which is legal). I had caller ID for a while but found an answering machine to be cheaper. I have told my friends I don't answer my phone. They have 2 options: (1) call my cell (2) leave a message.

There's a National Do Not Call Registry that can take you off the telemarkets list for 5 years.

www.donotcall.gov or www.donotcall.org

I forget, or just do a search. It works.

Supposedly the government has a no-call list that is supposed to prevent telemarketers from calling you, and if they do they get fined or something like that. Not quite sure how to get on that list, but I bet you can look it up on the internet pretty easily.

The "Do Not Call" list is a good place to start. Sometimes, though, I get call anyway. For those stubborn types or scam callers, I tell them "There's no one here by that name."

I have an odd last name that is dificult to pronounce correctly. Friends and family know how it sounds, so there's an easy way to tell the difference. Might not be an option for you.

There are set hours whilst telemarketers are allowed tocall. i think of its comparable as working hours interior the morning 8 or 9, and not after 8 P.M. and that i think of not greater sundays the two. on your debate dont forget approximately to function that 'do no longer call registry'

There is a default number you can call to reject telemarketers before they call. You will be removed from the list

There is a national Do Not Call list registry. Once you get yourself on it, anyone calling you is making an illegal call and you can report their sad selves.
Call your local phone company and ask about it, because I am not sure how to do this in every region. This is just in the U.S.

Consumers can register on-line for the national do-not-call registry by going to www.donotcall.gov. To register by telephone, consumers may call 1-888-382-1222: for TTY call 1-866-290-4236. You must call from the phone number you wish to register.

You can also call your state "do not call" list and register your phone number there.

~~When they call ask them to please put you on the "Do Not Call List". Some states have that so you don't have to deal with them.......

Or get an unlisted phone #...It costs a little more, but keeps unwanted telemarketers from harrassing you. Good Luck!
