am gonna get married to a guy who is studying PhD. he doesnt work and only gets money from working in the uni as a TA. i will also do masters when we get married.he gets 18000 canadian dollars per yr and pays a total of 1100 every yr for tuition and housing. do u think we will be financially okay there in canada? any ideas or suggestions for how to make it work better maybe,

i know am not gonna live a very high standard. i can bear it and we wont die of hunger. i think we will be able to live. right?

I assume that you don't get your schooling paid for? It'll be tough living on that money and paying for your school. If it wasn't for your tuition you could probably do it if you live frugally. Can you get financial aid? I'm doing a similar sort of thing. Email me if you need advice.

Here in the US at least when you're paid to go to school, PhD students aren't allowed to work a 2nd job (the 1st job being the PhD student position) I don't know if that's the same in canada.

At least one of you has to get a job. Being a student the rest of your life doing minimal teaching in a university is very close to being on welfare. Don't expect a very high standard of living.

I would say to you do not marry....wait...you've got all the time in the world to wait. Time is on your side. Do not commit yourself to a marriage where you are not both financially secure and your education is finished.
