College ball. I'm an LA native, but even when we had pro teams, I preferred college ball...

The pros have two styles, period...either smashmouth running game or west-coast passing style. College, however, brings many styles to the table and that makes the games much more interesting.

You never have to worry about your favorite college team "relocating" to a new city because the taxpayers won't pony up the funds to build a new stadium. College programs take the same old stadium and keep improving on it...ask Michigan and Tennessee...that's why their facilities are LEGENDARY, as opposed to most NFL venues that change name yearly with whatever sponsor decides to purchase naming rights and are thus, very much forgettable. Only NFL stadiums that really have tradition behind them that I can recall off the top of my head would be Soldier Field, Texas Stadium and Lambeau Field (Lambeau was remodeled a few years ago, as I recall...at least Green Bay got it right).

I'm in love with the option. Wishbone, flexbone, spread option, Option-I (waitng for the Veer Option to make a comeback)...I'll never see it in the pros, since all those QBs are too "valuable" to replace...I'd kill to see Vince Young run a mid-line option against Carolina trying to run a zone-blitz against him...either he'd get murdered or Carolina would be a part of Vince's "SportCenter" highlight of the day after he torched 'em...

Atmosphere...college gameday is like a big family reunion, where it's cool to go overboard as a fan (just check the student section). Pro fanatics simply look like geeks...

Jersey #s & Pride Stickers...I like seeing defensive linemen wearing single digits (Texans' Mario Williams wore #9 at NC State)...it just makes them look that much more imposing...the NFL is way too restricted on who can wear what...why couldn't Flutie wear his #22 from college? If college refs are smart enough to know who's who, why can't pro refs do it? Who doesn't love seeing the tomahawks on FSU's helmets? (Miami and Gator fans, I don't want to hear it...) or the buckeye leaves on OSU's helmets (same for Michigan folks...hush...you used to sport pride stickers on your helmets in the 80's....)

Need I say more? I like the NFL, but the "No Fun League" is just too "professional" for its own good...College football still has a "joy" to it that simply doesn't exist at the pro level...

NFL. Look at the scoreboard after a weekend of football. Who had the closer games? NCAA or NFL? NFL everytime. Plus, in the past decade there have been few teams that didn't make the playoffs at least once (Houston, New Orleans, Cleveland, Detroit, am I missing anyone?) That means that about 26-28 of the 32 teams have had a legitimate chance at the Super Bowl. Now look at college. How many out of the pool of teams have a real chance of EVER winning a national title? Not that many really. In college, if you suck, you have a good chance of always sucking. But in the NFL...a team can always make a turn around. Just look at the Saints. Really, that's all you have to do. Look at the Saints from last year and the Saints from this year and tell me that the NFL isn't an amazing thing. Plus NFL teams can't pay the weaker teams to come get slaughtered just to pad the win column. And everyone has an equal number of home and away games (last season with the Saints was a fluke year).

There are reasons to like and dislike both. The college game is different from the pro version, but it suffers due to its games being meaningless in terms of determining a champion, since the two teams who meet for the so-called championship are decided via a voting system. Sports should be decided on the field.

The NFL, on the other hand, displays the behavior of a heavy-handed government. For instance, because I have not updated my satellite dish (and this is one of the reasons I won't) the NFL has reached its heavy hand through Dish Network and my Fox SportsNet Pittsburgh (a channel I have paid for) to black out the Bill Cower show & the Bill Cower press conference on Tuesdays--because I do not have the NFL Network. Which, by the way, is not a pay channel. Therefore, the NFL is telling me I have to upgrade my Dish Network service. Well, I have no relationship with the NFL and the NFL has no relationship with me. The NFL cannot tell me what to do, and the NFL can go to Hell. I can stop watching its product as easily as I type these words.

If I had to choose, College. It has more of an ownership for fans then Pros do. It still has some of the personal connection that high school football does, with the huge atmosphere that the pros does. Plus, the option, mobile QBs, more big plays.

In Texas, we love high school football. It's just as big as the others. More personal. More pure (a.k.a. before the contracts, scholarships and money on the side)

Pro football, but college basketball!! Not only are you a fellow Cowboys fan but you are a southerner to boot, so am I. I live in North Carolina (where college basketball is a religion - Duke, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Wake Forest all within a few miles of each other)

pro is better because in college the players are still in the developmental stages of their carrer in sports. Many and most of the players are still not ready for the next level of play and may never be ready.. In the NFL if you can't play up at the next level you be pulled out on a stretcher. I still like college football though. I have to coming from Oklahoma. this is a college state also because like alabama oklahoma too has a dynamite team in OU and some years in OSU. although OU choked this year i believe they may win the Championship next year with adrian peterson back and healthy.

College is way better than pro. I'm an Ole Miss fan and there is nothing like spending a Saturday tailgating in the Grove.

HOTTY TODDY!!!

They each have their own merits. The pros play a game that's a lot like a formally structured dance (like a minuet). College football is more exuberant (like break dancing!). I'm glad they are usually played on separate days.
