Is it because:
1) They are stupid to begin with (and that's why they get married), OR
2) Marriage actually turns them into stupid people

To all the people who say, ask your parents or grandparents, they are all dead. Try to have some class. Just because yours are alive, doesn't mean other people's are. If you don't know that then you really are ******* STUPID.

I would like to apologize for posting this question. I was in a really bad mood and was angry about things I hope most people will never have to face.
I really have nothing against married people. If it makes you happy, then I am glad for you.

I'm sorry you feel this way. Were you burned really bad, in the past? I'm sorry if a relationship you were in fell apart. I'm sorry you feel so angry. Hopefully, you can again find someone. Someone that will treat you the way you deserve.
When that relationship gets serious, maybe you will decide you want to get married. Only time will tell. But, there are many out there who are perfectly happy living together. I think it is a personal choice. I chose to be Married, but I know it is not for everyone. People who are married are not stupid, it is just a choice they decided on, because they wish to stay with the same person, they love, forever. There are a lot of people who are married that have college educations.

You are basing you assumption on the fact that you know all married people or even a majority? Marriage works for some people and neither of your statements are based on anything but an opinion based on ignorance, and perhaps stupidity also. I'm not married, but I'd defend anyone who gets married based on such a strong commitment and love to each other. You must have had a bad childhood, or been dumped by too many women.

Sounds like maybe you've some how been screwed over by marriage, rather it's been your own, or someone close to you.
But I can tell you that with the right person and attitude, marriage can be very wonderful rewarding. I don't feel stupid for getting married, and I don't feel I have become stupid since I got married! My husband and I have been together happily for nearly nine years, we have beautiful kids, and our lives couldn't be better.
You really shouldn't be so bitter!

PEOPLE are not stupid, it might be that stupid is a action word dint blame it on marriage, single people do STUPID, things too. the definition for stupid is knowing something and ignoring it,example:you know the speed limit is 70 but you want to go faster and either something happens or you get away with it, either way you still did a stupid thing,TRUTH, dint be so angry, married couples do stupid things just like singles or children, remember they are individuals to came together to be as one that can be a bad thing or a good thing.

I don't think that being married makes you stupid or that only stupid people get married!! If spending the rest of your life with someone that makes you happier, makes life easier, someone you can share your heart with, someone to share your problems with is what you consider stupid...well, then you don't know very much. Marriage between a woman and a man is a wonderful, amazing, life full filling union.

Married people are smart because:
1- They are generally in a monogamous relationship where disease isnt all about
2- It takes alot to make a marriage work!
3- They have moved into the next section of their lives, and grown up.
You on the other hand are still living in a kids world and acting like a brat.

I'm not so sure that married people are stupid. Actually they are quite smarter because they get to deal with life and it's issues as a whole. Two people making better decisions than a single person who can't rely on their spouse!

People are vulnerable to relationship issues, married or not. Why are you so down on marriage? I pity the woman you eventually marry - you are negative and probably will be a verbal abuser. Hopefully you won't breed.

Well first of all you need to specify stupid, and why you think they are stupid. Men do too much sometimes to keep their marriage together. Than when they are divorce they do as much as they can to stay divorce. here is the def. of STUPID Slow to learn or understand; obtuse.Tending to make poor decisions or careless mistakes. Stupid is as stupid does.
