He apologized to the kids but says he does not regret what he did as Materazzi asked for it. He refused to repeat the actual words, saying if you can lip read (Italian) you will see what he said but Materrazi gave some serious insults (regarding his mother/sister) and repeated it 3 times, on hearing it the 3rd time he reacted. He said that if he is punished he expects Materazzi to be punished aswell

That is BS. Why are we going to believ only him now. Granted Materazzi is a dirty player too but so is Zidane. He has done similar incidents before. I can read his lips. This is what happened.
Materazzi pulled his jersey (they had been going back and forth the whole game - especially after Zidane converted an absolutely undeserved PK at Materazzi's expense and Materazzi scored the tying goal ) Zidane said, if you want it I will give it to you after you win the cup. And Materazzi replied I will rather take it of your sister.
Three times my ***.
Mother my ***.
Zidane was wrong. Be a man and say he was wrong and quit lying.

Zidane > Materazzi. Materazzi deserved the headbutt. The media needs to lay off of Zidane. He's a sick soccer player, but after all: human.

Wow...I didn't realize how cultures can be so different sometimes when it comes to sports. This stuff and stuff worse than this is said on the National Football Fields and National Basketall Association court here in America. So Materazzi said something mean about Zidane's sister and mother. WHO CARES....grow up, he was trying to get under your skin and he succeeded.

A Brazilian technical group read Materazzi's lips, and the actual words were "Hey, French scum and terrorist (Zidane is French Algerian, i.e and Arab) your sister is a great whore."

Two touchy parts of Zidane's life, and Materazzi knew he would explode against his racist and derogatory remarks. I guess Zidane put honor ahead of personal legacy and took the matter in his own hands.

That is what was said to trigger Zidane.

Its part of the game. So if a fan would of said it your saying he has a right to head butt him? NO! He should of known better Let your feet do the talking not Your head. No matter the insult was it worth it ending your career that way? NO! He may of won the battle by the head butt, But Lost the War By getting red Carded in the end with only ten minutes lef for Penalties. To much of a HOt Head!

Zidane is(was) the worst captain in todays football. He dives over slight tackles and dosent even sing the natioanl anthem. So dont stick up for him.
