There are a lot of causes...
1. Getting hit in the face
2. Those allergy nasal sprays can cause them. They tend to thin out the mucous membranes. 3. Constant irritation, like from allergies.
4. The common cold.
5. High blood pressure
6. A small blood vessel that is near the surface of the skin that bleeds with the smallest irritation.
7. Blowing your nose too hard
These are just a few that come to my mind

IF THE AIR THAT YOU LIVE IN ....WORK IN...IS DRY...DRY...THAT SOMETIMES WILL MAKE YOUR NOSE BLEED..YES, PICKING YOUR NOSE AN CONTRIBUTE TO THE CAUSE....IF YOU HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE THAT CAN ALSO CAUSE IT TO BLEED...IF YOU ARE REALLY THE CONCERNED AND IF IT HAPPENS MORE THE ONCE A MONTH I WOULD MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO GO SEE THE DOCTOR...HE MAY VERY WELL CAUTERIZE THE BLOOD VESSELS SO IT DOESN'T HAPPEN SO OFTEN...BUT I WOULDN'T WAIT AROUND IF IT HAPPENS LIKE I SAID MORE THAN ONCE A MONTH...

Blood vessels in your nose burst, either from being injured, having too much pressure in them from say HTN, being fragile from being too dry for example from too many antihistimines, or having a vascular malformation in the nose.
