At Kings Island in Mason, OH. I swear to you I have a fuzzy memory of my dad telling me about this (we live a few miles from the park) and reading about it in the paper but I can't find anything about it anymore!! I thought 16-18 people died riding the King Cobra. Or perhaps they were just injured? It's been bugging me for a while and I can't figure it out nor can I find it anywhere online.
I do know they shut down the King Cobra for a day around 1999 only as a precaution due to a fatality at another park somewhere (it was a similar coaster and they wanted to make sure it was safe before re-opening it)

Amanda B: To answer your question, yes, "Son of Beast" injured several riders on Sunday... wow. I've ridden it several times; it was going down a huge hill and stopped suddenly but continued with the ride after it stopped. Basically it gave everyone a horrible case of whiplash, bruises and one woman broke a bone. Ouch. It's a pretty rough ride when functioning normally so I can't imagine how much that must have hurt.
