Sorry vectorx but I'm from the UK and I'm pretty certain UK banks don't offer prepaid credit cards. You would have to open an account and get a debit card.

As for the person who asked the question. What kind of card is it. Is it Visa? Mastercard? American Express? It needs to say one of those on it. If it does have one of those on then I'm sorry but she needs to try making some more phone calls because there's no reason why it shouldn't work.

Oh by the way you can rule out the possibilty that it could be the atm that she is trying. Pretty much every atm in the UK accpets every card these days (as long as it says visa, mastercard or amex).

Go to a local bank (hey, how about The Bank of England?) and bring all ID,passports, etc., have them set up a wire transfer from your credit union to your bank; in the US this is about 25USD, so probably a tad more over there; also may need you to sign/resend a signed sheet authorizing the transfer; Good Luck; This might take several hours, so start early morning, sight-see, call them(the Bank to ck on progress), lunch and return; should be done by days end; Oh, most important part, if you need it tomorrow start NOW because USA is, what, 3 hours behind?

She can buy prepaid credit cards from any local bank in the area and use those, or just contact her bank in the US (or wherever your residence is) and have them help out.

Hope this helps
