SO WHAT!!! Under the circumstances his mom being sick I understand his frustration but not to try to hurt someone. Besides all of you Americans on this site, how many times did you call someone a motherfucker in the playground. Or people all over the world how many times did you curse someone out in the playground. And that is in the playground. Imagine you are a professional and being viewed by 1 BILLION people. And you are a veteran. That was plain stupid and uncalled for.
Besides. We have his words and we have Materazzi's words. They are both dirty players and their past proves this. Why are we only believing Zidane?
And all my people out there that know Italian and that read the lips like me.
This is what happened. Both of them were taling trash the whole game. Materazzi pulled his jersey. And Zidane said, I will give it to you after we win the trophy. And Materazzi replied by saying I rather take it off your sister. So what. This **** happens in every game. Zidane was an idiot and a villain with his actions. I am still waiting for his apology to French people, to his fans and to football fans all around. And even to kids, for setting a bad example. Not to Materazzi of course. But verbal assaults do not need to be answered with physical ones. An educated level headed person laughs it off. Realizes that it is a mind game. BUt he was not smart enough to realize this. He is a very smart footballer but apprently not a smart individual.

Wow...I didn't realize how cultures can be so different sometimes when it comes to sports. This stuff and stuff worse than this is said on the National Football Fields and National Basketall Association court here in America. So Materazzi said something mean about Zidane's sister and mother. WHO CARES....grow up, he was trying to get under your skin and he succeeded.

Matterazzi admitted to the press that he did insult Zidane's sister. Looks like it was a deserved head ram.
Edited for the hell of it
Oh boo hoo a big strong boy was knocked on his bum...did baby fall down and go boom. No one was hurt and while it was a rules infraction it doesn't deserve the kind of attention is is getting.
it's not like anyone had their back broken...it was a ram in the chest.

Really? Did he?
If the word "terrorist" or "Muslim" was never pronounced, that's not so bad. Those are common insults in Italian, not particularly classy but frequent in every language, like "fils de pute" in French. I can understand he was particulary sensitive because his mother is seriously ill, but it doesn't justify what he did. He is a pro, he should have known better and let it go.
I really feel sorry for him. He's still a legend, but he also will always be remembered for that silly way of ending his career.

Zidane shouldn't have done that, but was it really that big of a deal? It probably hurt less than a hard, illegal tackle, would have been hardly anything in an american football game, or many other sports.

no, no, no... Here's the truth: Matterrazzi was choaking on a "spicy meat-a-ball" and in actuallity Zidane saved his life by giving him a quick head-butt to the chest thus dilodging the spicy meat-a-ball from matterazzi windpipe.
we should all thank zidane and award france the world cup for his heroic efforts.

no matter what matterazzi told zidane about his sister, mother, father, dog-whatever-he shouldn't act like that. imean, if he had been part of the team till the end of the match they would be the new world champions. i really believe that...

What was wrong with ZiZou tell that idiot he will give him his shirt after the game? That dude was all over ZiZou and at that moment I was like he must be gay touching ZiZou that way. So ZiZou tells him arrogently after the game he will give him his shirt that materizzi loser decides to disrespect that guy's family and use racial slur against him. ZiZou should have gone for his balls. I bet that is what he wanted since he was touching ZiZou's nipples anyways.
