How many times in the World cup were players running over the white line (the ball still in play) while dribbling the ball down the wing - then running back into the field to play, pass the ball or whatever? Like the ball as it goes out of play should not the player be penalised for being out of play? Surely its an unfair advantage? Its like a boxer standing outside the ropes and still trading punches with his opponent! Why is is not a yellow card offence and a red one if players do it continually. Should not FIFA take action and outlaw it?

Exactly because of that - it doesn't matter where people are, as long as the ball stays in. That's just the rule. That way if you're running full speed to kick the ball you can compensate and run out and everything, but the ball stays in play. It's not an unfair advantage as long as everyone can do it.

just because the player crosses the line does not mean the ref should blow the whistle. As long as the ball has not crossed the line then the ball is still in play! those are the rules, always have been always will be. How would you expect the players to take throw ins? they are behind the line when they do that. how about corner kicks, its the same thing.
