I think the whole world is jealous that Italy won and they are trying to take the attention way from their victory. I wonder how many times an Italian player was called a wop or worse. Insults are always being hurled between athletes. Doesn't make it right. It's the reaction that counts. Zidane obviously wasn't the bigger person here. I say let it go and let us Italians enjoy the victory.

Ok so a lipreader said transcribed that he lost it coz he had insults about his sick mother made and was told that he is a disgrace and a terrorist and I think that is waaay out of line!!
And what has being muslim got to do with it, thats like saying its because I'm white, not a very good arguement really!!
As for the song, well if c**p like the pussycat dolls, peter andre and other sh**e that gets released like 'meat pie sausage roll come on England give us a goal' yea that is a disgrace to England, and Amarillo, I say bring out the song, those who like it will buy it!!
At least think about what u r saying before you post it, coz that was really unfair to bring in religion and race!!
Just for the poeple that agree ZZ was in the wrong you might wanna c this 1st...

Wow...I didn't realize how cultures can be so different sometimes when it comes to sports. This stuff and stuff worse than this is said on the National Football Fields and National Basketall Association court here in America. So Materazzi said something mean about Zidane's sister and mother. WHO CARES....grow up, he was trying to get under your skin and he succeeded.

Spot on.
He should never have won the award, I think one of the Italian defenders deserved it, or that little hairy Gatusso fella.
What really gets my goat is that people defend him claiming that he was harrassed and called a terrorist (noone really knows what was said, apart from the two players). Who cares, sure the person saying it is out of order, but replying to verbal abuse with violence makes you worse. Sticks and stones etc..
Anyone who claims ZZ was right to do it is as bad as he is. Rooney was sent off for much much less, and got vilified by certain segments, Zidane is hailed as a hero? How does that work?

Zidane is an ignorant fool and once again disgraced not only himself but all of France. The french has looked foolish once again.

ZIdane has been the best midfielder of his generation and hence the fuss. He disgraced himself and he knows it. And that's precisely why he apologised to his fans in his interview. However one should realize that he got a red card and Materazzi wasn't reprimanded to the best of my knowledge. That isn't fair play.

I don't care that Zidane did that. he doesn't need to prove ANYTHING to ANYONE on the soccer field. the man is a wizard with the ball and arguably one of the best ever.you can look down on him for doing so if you'd like, whatever, that is your decision.
Any idea what Mazeratti said to him? What if it was something like they are suggesting like... "i'll fu*k your mother and your sister you dirty f'in terrorist." ill tell you what, if you can walk away from someone talking about your family and attacking you personally like that then maybe you have no self-confidence or pride. i for one am not a pushover and wouldn't even begin to take that from anyone, not on any stage. Zidane is the man, I didn't even like him before this tourney started, but anyone with the gumption to stick up for themselves and their family no matter what the circumstance is not looked down upon in my book.

You are so right! Let's move on now, what's all this big deal??? He acted stupid and with or without him they would have lost anyway, so ... stop complaining people!!!! Let's not mention that France barely passed the groups! They were the second team in their group that qualified! If they are so good how come they weren't the best???

if you think that he wasn't getting the most abuse throughout the game you are wrong. he was the best and most influential player on the pitch so he wasn't constantly under abuse from start to finish. he is one of the best players ever having almost on his own brought france back to greatness and along with that he is one of the most skillful ever.
he was under the most presure, him being muslim has nothing to with anythin. he probably will be punished.he was voted player of the tournament so he is special.
that's why there is a fuss.

What I think is ridiculous is how they made the simple story about him headbutting another opponent as some huge dramatic story, like someone dying of cancer or something.
He headbutted someone for Christ sake. Stupid unbelievable move, sure, but do we have to make it out like someone died and renact it every 5 seconds?
