Call the doctor. My daughter went thru 6 different formulas before we found one that she could take. We started out with similac advanced with iron and she did fine with that until she was 4 wks old then she started throwing it up. I did just like you and burped her in the middle of a bottle and when she finished and that didn't help. The doctor will tell you another brand to try.

As long as the baby is having regular bowel movements I would keep him on the similac, but add some rice cereal to the formula. He probably just has reflux and that will help. He will eventually grow out of it. Make sure that you use a cereal nipple for the bottle. You can start giving cereal by the spoon when he is 4 months old too.

I used Nestle GoodStart - it was easy on my daughter's little belly - you could try that
I have heard it suggested also that your burp the baby after every ounce they drink if they spit up a lot - some babies need to be burped more often
Also, before switching to soy formula on your own -check with a doctor, soy has some scarey side effects that worry me - unless your doctor tells you that you must use it because the risk of not using it outweighs the risk of using it, stay away from soy

my son went thru every formula that was on the market ( I wasn't able to breastfeed) the absolute, only thing that worked was Nutramagen by Enfamil. The only down side is that it was like $25 a can. At the time I had W.I.C-- a state program, that helps pay for healthy foods for babies and children. I had to get a Dr's Rx, but the WIC program paid for the formula.

When my son was a baby he was very unhappy with his milk-based formula it made him crampy and spit up constantly. I switched him to soy-based formula and burped him after every 2 ounces. frequent burping helped keep the milk down. Try also feeding him in a more upright position. Still though, he is going to spit up. that's what babies do. some more than others. My son used to spit up all the time and my daughter rarely did it.

Some babies will spit no matter what. I would ask your son's Dr. if you can try soy formula. My son was the same way. We put him on soy and it helped. He has reflux so he still spit, but not as much, also you might ask about putting rice cereal in his bottle with the formula. We use 3-4 teaspoons in an 8 oz. bottle (per my son's Dr.), that also helped a lot. Good luck!!

My son had the same problem. He also had colic. My best friend suggested Carnation Good Start. We tried it & it work great. When we shock the bottle we noticed that the bubbles popped right away so the baby wasn't swollowing them. So he was less gassy which meant less spit up & less colic. Carnation also comes in an iron formula and a soy formula. I reccomend it to everyone with babies.

My babies had a hard time with Similac and Enfamil formulas because they are just heavier (thicker) for some reason. They did really well with the Carnation and Gerber brand formulas. Both are equally nutritious and were easier for them to digest.

firstly you are suupposed to be using the green tin similac with low iron, secondly my son used to do that a lot and the paedatrition told me to use similac ISOMIL advance soy formula either with Iron or without. Later like when he is about 10 or 11 mths you can switch back to normal milk ( i just switched back to using normal milk for my son he is 11mths)

Some babies are just spitters..I had the same issue with my eldest daughter and I changed her formula a couple of times. She spit up all of them. All my subsequent kids were spitters as well. As long as he is gaining weight and isnt uncomfortable (aside from being gooey) this is something he will grow out of. Usually when they start sitting up and spend more time upright the spitting up starts to taper off. Of course speak to your pediatrician when you go to your next appointment but Im sure he will say the same thing.
