Twin Light Performance out of Broomfield Colorado did an engine overhaul on a good working engine. It cost $1500 and failed after only 50 miles. I didn't get a warranty but the additional repair cost over $1000. I think good mechanics should stand behind their work. I want to sue in small claims court. Do I have a chance?

You could always report them the Better Business Bureau and to Tom Martino. Businesses don't like to be on sh*t lists.

Probably not. I had a Saturn that failed 7 miles from the repair shop and the additional repair was $800. They didn't stand behind their work either. I no longer own a Saturn and I would not recommend Saturn of Elmhurst.

The thing is, if they offered up a warranty and you passed on it, I don't think there's anything that they can do. Most places usually have a 30 day guarantee but just for parts usually and not for labor. Double check with them first, but unfortunately, I think because you didn't get the warranty, you might be out of luck.

If you have your paper work, yes, I think you have a very good case. One can reasonably expect a minimum of 50,000 miles out of a rebuilt motor and, with care, even more. For it to fail within 50 miles means that the work wasn't done right, or it wasn't done at all. Go to court, my friend. Go to court.

I'm pretty sure that here in Texas you get a 12 month 12000 mile warranty no matter what. Check with your states Attorney General.
