wow!! lots of answers. Thanks to all who answered. I appreciated all responses and will continue to read them all. I began pondering this question seriously after a friend/coworker's wife asked me if I was married. I replied I didn't believe in marriage. I didn't have time to explain as I did in my last question so many of you answered. She proclaimed (not asked me) "what are you good for?!" I have since wondered what "marriage meant in our society (American).

just figured ou thow to add details... Thanks for your responses, though some were pretty far out there (why do you think I am cheating Greenbay?) I do believe in a bond between two people. But I 100% think people do not take this seriously. Or, perhaps I take it too seriously. Thanks for your input :)

i believe that marriage. is a bond between two people. to some its just papers. but you are giving your life to someone else you are honoring them and making it offical to love honor and obey. you have a connection betwwen one another that will last beyond this world. marriage is something wonderfull that two people share when they are ready. with marriage you have commitment and his last name . you get to be one .

Been there did that! Didn't work out and $17,000 dollars later I am still in debt to my attorney. The custody battle is still in full swing so the bill is still escalating.

I would marry again because someone had a gun to my head and told me that I would be shot if I did not say I do. Then as soon as it was done and the gun was gone I would file for an annulment. That's just me though!

On a serious note some people do it out of moral and or religious beliefs. Others do it because they want that commitment. Each to their own .....but it is not for me.

Depends...to some it is a sacred vow of love, to others it is a piece of paper & a ring. If you do not believe in marriage then that is your god given right, tell the nib nose to blow ya
