It's not big or clever. I own a DS but that doesn't make me try and belittle PSP owners. I wish I had the money for both but I don't. I don't have to put other people down to feel good about myself and I'm fed up of people on both sides of the debate doing so. The same is true of home consoles, the next generation included, and two of the consoles haven't even been released yet.

For the majority, it's a pissing contest. DS owners try to convince themselves that they got a bargain by spending $120 instead of the $200 the PSP owners dropped; so they tout their system. PSP owners try to justify the fact they paid more by claiming their system as better.
As a DS/PS2/GC owner, I will cast my lot firmly in the corner of "you're right." Each system is designed to do something different; trying to compare them is like apples to oranges. Other than the fact they share some common applications and basically do the same thing, each one goes about it in a totally different manner, and does it well.

I have over 15 years of gaming experience behind me and you made the right chice going for a DS instead of a PSP. I did have both until I decided that the DS was better so I sold the PSP.

Its Sony's first ever shot at producing handheld consoles while Nintendo are highly experienced at producing them starting way back in the very early 80's with their Game and Watch handheld electronic game series. I think there were a total of 59 of them released with their release dates spanning 11 and a half years ranging from Ball released April 1980 to Mario the Juggler released October 1991.

Ten reasons why a DS is better than a PSP:

1) Most of the DS games are original and only released for that format - nearly all the PSP games have been also released (or due to be released) on the PS2.

2) The DS is a lot more reliable - PSP's are too fragile.

3) The PSP is more interested in graphics than game content. Game content is much more important to me than graphics. I can spend hours playing the awesome highly addictive game Pong on my DS (one of the games on Retro Atari) which much more fun than some of them PSP games. Big suprise Pong is not out on the PSP.

4) The batteries on a PSP dont last as long as a DS's.

5) There are too many 'add ons' on a PSP that are not necassary for a games console while a DS just does what a games console is designed to do which is play games.

6) More DS consoles have been sold than PSP's.

7) The DS has awesome wireless multiplayer action and only one of the players need to have the game

8) The DS has awesome touch screen technology and built in microphone which a lot of DS games take full advantage off.

9) There are more games out on a DS than a PSP.

10) The DS is backward compatible for gameboy advanced games.

Do not waste your time listening to that garbage.

Enjoy your DS because it is a nice handheld.

Someone is always bashing whatever system I happen to be talking about but I just laugh at them because I have all of the current systems and they are all fun.

Good question.

Fanboy or fanboi is a term used to describe an individual (usually male, though the feminine version fangirl may be used for females) who is utterly devoted to a single subject or hobby, often to the point where it is considered an obsession.

(In computing, the word is used somewhat differently - referring to someone slavishly supportive of their preferred operating system or computer programming language)

because we live in a culture that has to be 'us against them'

it really isn't a console war - they are just products

look at the political climate today. it is getting out of hand
