I guess they're just really happy...it's not a bad thing...it's ok to be happy...and we do some crazy things when we're excited...so they're not particularly being "wild"...they're just happy! Well Zidane is an exception...cuz he's just great! =)

Scoring a goal on a professional level that alot of these players are on is very intense. When you get the goal, it may be the only goal of the game, it may be the winning goal. Goals a scored few and far between so if you score the feeling is awesome. Plus you have to think this is there life, scoring goals gets you anything you want from money to women to fame. Think of American football, people score touchdowns and there jumping into the stands, pulling out sharpies, dancing with the cheerleaders....etc so its not that crazy! but I can see what you mean. Soccer to alot of these players in like a religion.

A Goal doesn't happen that often, so when it does wild celebrations follow!
When the crowd goes crazy I think it simply eggs the players on.
Zidane is an old wily character. He knows his greatness so does not need to create a song and dance when he does something spectacular. It is common place for him! Well at least it was! He no longer plays ;)

I think it gives them a sense of euphoria when they score. It's fun to see everyone react to a goal. As I'm sure you noticed the scores aren't very high in soccer as they could be in hockey or baseball so every goal really counts. If a hockey team is down by one it's not really a big deal but in soccer it is because it's not as easy to score.
Zidane in my opinion just isn't one for emotion. Too bad, he must be a boring person to be around.

WHat is wrong with that. People celebrate a basket made, a goal scored in hockey, a touchdown. It is a celebration and however they want to do it is their progotive. As long as they do not make insulting salutes, they just want to cherish the moment it is all good.
