3 months back i purchased a hp pavilion dv1000 notebook.. due to some technical problems i sent my notebook to hp store.. i agree it was accidental mistake, and i was prepared to pay the service charge.. when i sent my notebook they didnt specify how to pay the service charge and later i paid the service charge, it was $698.. i clearly specified that speakers and keyboard arent working.. but when my notebook was repaired and was sent back to me, i noticed that the speakers and keyboard arent repaired.. in the customer receipt they specified that the keyboard has been replaced.. now when i asked the customer service , he said me to send my notebook back.. my work has been severely hampered and the basic problems werent soleved but the bill is $698.. can i file a case on hp?

If you have sufficient evidence to back your claims, then why not.
But I wouldn't tho', I would rather put it in writing and send copies to their Corporate Headquarters directly to Administration and then if they agree to compensate then take the compensation to make up for your losses. If they ignore it, then file the case.

At least, you can say you tried to file a formal complaint but they ignored it. Now legal actions must be taken.

Absolutely, You can. But Imagine, HP being such a big organisation can come with a swarm of their lawers with sufficient answers/justifications.

The better option I would suggest is to to speak to Customer Relations dept. in HP technical support. You can call your respective country's technical support line number and demand to speak to CR. Don't relent untill they connect you to CR.

Explain them about the issue. Make sure you explain that you have all possible reasons to get the repair fee waived off or you can also ask for a replacement.

There is a replacement strategy if the product is within specific number of days (mostly in multiple repair cases or looper issues).

If this does not work out for you, depending on the evidences which you may possess you can file a case.

Hope this could help...

Good Luck :-)

wow if the bill is $698 u could have got a new laptop for that.
a keyboard costs about $100 max.
and the speakers are a bit tricky to replace since they might have needed to replace the housing.
i would speak to HP about this since the max u should have paid is about $300, if the laptop is only 3 months old then it should be covered by the warrenty unless u broke the keyboard.

Yes, they charged you for services that did not repair the problem.
