Yao Ming.
No doubt about it. He might even be better than Shaq right now.

This is actually a tougher question than it seems. If you go by how a player plays, then Tim Duncan, a natural 7' who plays with his back to the basket, is a center who usually fills the power forward spot. If you go strictly by what position they fill on a roster, then 6-9 (he actually might be closer to 6-7 or 6-8) Ben Wallace, who plays best as a defensive power forward, is a center.

By the first argument, Tim Duncan is easily the next best center in the league.

By the second argument, Yao Ming is the next best center. Big Ben is a great defender, but has absolutely no offense. Ming's got a lot to learn, but there is a huge shortage of centers right now. In fact, there's kind of a huge shortage of back to the basket post players. It's becoming more of a guard's game.

The best center would be Tim Duncan, but he is not a full center, he is really a power forward. Dirk Notzitzki would be it too, but he is in the same boat, he is really a PF.

The best "center" would be Ben Wallace if he were coordinated enough to shoot free throws and such (Shaq has same problem). I would have to say that Yao Ming is a pretty good one, I would not go as far to say that he is "the best" though. I like what Brad Miller does on the court.

Yao Ming is pretty good, if not great, but he seems to take a lot of plays off. The best center in the league besides Shaq is Ben Wallace, the guy plays amazing defense, and although not a great offensive player he has streaks of greatness, add that to his rebounding ability and he is the 2nd best. (Tim Duncan is a PF in my book or else he would be 2nd.)

Based on Stats from 2005-2006
The top 5 were
Yao Ming, Shaquille O'Neal, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Brad Miller, Eddy Curry

Zydrunas Ilgauskas, his team went into the second round, Yao's didn't. I also hate him. Ben Wallace can't score it's pathedic watching the man try to get the ball in the hoop. Z's defense isn't much worse. He had 1.7 blocks per while Ben had 2.2. And Ilgauskas scored more than twice as many points per game. If Yao's team ever does something, I would say him.

Yao Ming hands down even if Shaq is included. Tim Duncan is a power forward, so he doesn't count. 7'6 and scoring 25 ppg. That's my boy, Yao Ming!

It would have to be Tim Duncan which he is a Foward/Center. He is a 2-time MVP and former Defensive Player of Year. He is such a great player with so many moves- bank shot, posting up, jumpers, and gets to free-throw line. He dominates the tempo and can bring his team back all by himself.
