Absolutely. It shouldn't matter who's earning more in a marriage. This isn't, like, 1950.

Many wives do earn more than their husbands. Sometimes this puts a strain on the marriage because the man feels like he isn't being the provider he is supposed to be. As long as the spouses have talked this out and are agreed on the part each is going to play in the family support area, then her fulfillment is just as important as his and if she makes more, so be it. Primary importance should be to give each other and the children the attention and devotion they need. Do not abdicate your role as father and mother or husband an wife for the sake of career building, but all things being equal, then it should not make a difference who makes more.

I believe that it is totally ok ... but unfortunately it can cause problems. If the male has problems with his self esteem already...having a woman who earns more automatically makes him feel less important. For ages males were the providers and although times have changed, this mentality is still with us. Then it also depends on the female...it is easy for the female, unconsciously, to feel "superior" to her mate...what I mean is that to some extend women who earn more are more confident, feel they are more powerful...
I really think that when women earn more than males problems arise because unknowingly it affects both parties self esteem.

It shud have been ok. Actually, men feel superior because of the soceity he lives in, so when his wife is ahead of him, it becomes hard for him to except.
Also, some women become snooty if they earn more than their hubby, and they are not always willing contribute in the household. Reason? They think running the household is the responsibility of men.

Of course why should there be a problem you see you cant really help what you are going to earn it is up to the management of the company. so what you are going to tell them "dont pay me so much cause my husband might find a problem" just like it is ok to have househusbands so it is ok for a woman to make more money than their spouse

Hi,

Are u married?????

I think it doens't make a difference who earns what/ more/ less. Coz whatever the wife/husaband earns should be used collectively. Once there are no issues of yours and mine it wouldn't matter even a bit.
PS: If a couple keeps on discussing, "this is mine and that is not yours" ..then ...they should first discuss themselves and thier relationship.

Regards,
CM

Of course its alright . Any man that has a problem with that must have little to no self esteem. As long as you're both getting the benefit of both salary's who cares who makes the most.

Wow, what a technical error. A question seems to have emerged from 1964. Amazing.

It's not just alright, it's wonderful when it happens. My wife made more than me for a while. It meant we had a nicer house. I thought that was just fine.

Certainly it is alright! This is 2006! The old rules of female subjugation SHOULD be a thing of the past. Dead and not mourned!

Of course, we live in the 2006, is not in women to try to accept this, but in men. They have to learn to accept if his girlfriend/wife earns more money than he does. It is completely normal, and cool !!
