Without a doubt it was the scene from Jaws where the head popped out of the boat underwater. No one expected it. There was popcorn and soda all over the theater.

This sounds totally lame, and i know it... but as far as jumping out of my seat it was the only that had ever done it to me. The part in Narnia when that little boy is going up the castle or whatever and all the animals are made of stone and crap. Then he stops over the wolf and it jumps up and barks. It startled the living h*ll outta me, mostly because i thought it was a little kids movie (watching it with my lil' bro) and I just didn't see it coming. However the ring is the scariest thing I've ever saw, We didn't even make it halfway through and had to turn it off! IN DAYLIGHT! I'm ashamed of myself.

OMG!!!

Ok, ok...

For me, it has never been a scary movie!

I love scary movies and I hardly ever jump!

Get this...

The one movie that made me jump the most was...The Forgotten!

I know, I know...pathetic huh!?!

It's not scary at all, but when that car crashed in to them...ugh!

And when out of no where, the house is sucked up in to the sky or when the people just all of the sudden get sucked up and disappear!

Or when that guy's face contorts and he makes this horrifying noise that makes all of the windows shatter! Man...I'm tellin yah!

I think I jumped five times and that is a record for me!

I love scary and I love gory, but this tops them all and it's not even a horror flick!

Sheesh!

--Great Question

It has to be the scene from 'The Eye' (amazing Japanese horror movie) where a distant voice turns out to be that of a ghost standing right behind the main character.

Definitely when Bilbo lunged at Frodo for the ring at Rivendell in The Fellowship Of The Ring, rather than any horror film.

it wasn't a scary film it was actually a Disney film the lion king when simbas uncle scar slammed his foot down in the graveyard to stop simba passing its one of those moments were the screen goes blank for around 2 seconds and your attention gets thrown out of the window temporarily (probably when they change the roll of film but it certainly got my attention back but then i was still only a child then
