No, but they got it by hook or crook thanks to Materazzi. He disgraced the genuine efforts of his teammates to be able to hold their heads up high without any unwarranted criticism of the outcome. Go back and look at the pictures of the team after the game when Materazzi was putting that hat on the cup. Look at the expressions his fellow teammates are giving him. No one will ever know what either team might have been able to accomplish in the last few minutes of the game had the incident not occurred, nor will anyone ever know what motivation the French team might have had going into the penalty kicks had Zidane not been kicked out. As such there will always be questions as to whether Italy should have won the cup or not because every sports commentator noted that in the overtime periods they looked tired and weak while the French continued to dominate play. I'm not standing in judgement of the French or the Italians - merely the incident between two people that will forever taint the outcome of that game.

whoever says Italy did not deserve the Worldcup probally wasn't watching it. Italy outplayed France in the first half for sure, France outplayed them in the 2nd half, and Italy won in shootouts. So Italy won. People say that penelty kicks are a cheap way to end the Worldcup game, but then again that is how France got there first goal. And did you see Italy against Germany, they played AMAZING

Italy came out on top from the hardest qualifying group. We had no goals scored AGAINST us. We beat france in a final that was being HANDED to them when you consider the stupidity of the penalty kick and the goal that was denied for being offside which by the way, was NOT offside and that's why we're not seeing replays of it. That being said, with their skill level and the odds stacked against them. They're win was WELL deserved. Why, should france have won?? that would have showed kids that being a suck and looking for excuses when you intentionally hit someone physically is okay and you should still win and that any time someone hurts your feelings with a verbal insult, its okay to go over there and hit them. Italy kept France from the net even when france WAS dominating so with all the domination, they still couldn't score. VIVA ITALIA!

Yes they do. They weren't very strong when they started the tournament but grew stronger with every game. If people have problems with how the game was decided then they should take it up with FIFA. If you recall Italy lost to Brazil in 1994 to penalty kicks. It's a sad way to lose and not the most heroic way to win but these are the rules. It could have been the other way around.

absolutely not. they've cheated their way throughout their games, they are not worthy of the trophy. esp. their conspirarcy against Zidane, was clear. And a lot of their high kicks against the Germans. Italians are nothing except a bunch of cheating scumbages.

No they didn't desirve it because they won in penelty kicks. I personly think they should go by the golden goal because it forces the teams to work for it instead of leaving it to chance. but thats just what I think.
