Could someone please explain to me why we support Israel over Palestine? Some stats for you.

In the Intifada that began at the end of 2000, three Palestinians have died for every Israeli. Both sides have repeatedly ignored the 'civilized' standards of warfare by deliberately targeting civilians. To the supporters of both I give you the Passover bombing(I think in 2002) and the helicopter attack shortly there after. I'm not sure of the number deaths in the Passover bombing, but the headlines for the helicopter attack was 20 dead, 100 wounded, many of them children. Oh yeah, and they missed their target.

What will it take to have peace in this area of the world? What will it take for the world to condemn Israel for its terrorist like treatment toward the people of Palesine? What will it take for Israel and Palestine to make peace?

We support Israel because of the huge Jewish lobby here in the US as well as the Christian right who want Israel to stay in the current administration. This land has been fought over since the beginning of civilization. It has been under many different countries and peoples and now 3 main religions call this place one of if not the holiest place in the world. Muslims Jews and Christians. Since the majority of people in the United States fall under Christian And Jewish we support what we believe. If you think its about human rights or violence then your mistaken.

The state of Israel was legally created out of the dismemberment of the Ottoman Empire at the end of World War I. The area was desolate, desert and swamp, with some small towns and a few inhabitants, many of them nomads. The inhabitants considered themselves mostly Syrian. The Balfour Declaration issued by the British, who were given the mandate over the area by the League of Nations. Jews have lived in the country since Biblical times. The Arabs from the surrounding areas were lured to "Palestine" by the industry and prosperity that the Jews brought to the region. Envy, hatred and religious fanaticism turned the Arabs against the Jews. In 1947, under pressure, the British resigned their mandate. The same year, the United Nations mandated partioning of the territory. The Jews, though disappointed, accepted the partition. The Arabs rejected it and launched war against Israel. The armies of five Arab countries invaded. Following the exhortations of the invaders, the Arab residents got out of the way hoping to return after victory was attained. They could then reclaim their property and that of the Jews, all of whom would have been killed or would have fled. Israel won. That and that alone is the source of the Palastinian "refugees". Had the Arabs accepted the UN partition plan, there would now have been a state of "Palestine" for the last 58 years. The might have attained a similar level of prosperity, advancement and development as Israel. 50% of Israel's population now includes refugees from Morocco, Algeria, Iraq and Yemen. All were accepted by Israel with open arms and have become successful members of their society. The Palestinians refused to integrate these refugees into their population and instead confined them to "refugee camps". The ones there are now fourth generation and through no fault of Israel.

Since you're so good at qouting stats, I thought I'd shed some light on the history of the region.

a secular state , not a Jewish state , not a Muslim state , Palestinians be live this is their land they lived on it for thousands of years , and suddenly , in 1948 the British and the UN gave it to the Jews of the world . Jews have had a rough history , every where they go , they rise and then they are prosecuted ( you think they would have more sympathy towards the Palestinians)
the key is the united states : it has to decide to rain in Israel , and give some right to the Palestinians , but it has to pressure the Palestinians to accept the Israelis in there land , the generations that are growing now on both sides are inhere ting the legacy and pain of the past. someone power full must say enough is enough. from Palestinian point of view it is very unfair to give up their land , from Jews point of view this is their land
human beings have to learn not to kill each other over land , life is too precious
as far as why the states is supporting Israel : smart lobbying

Let's see things from the Israeli side of things.

-In the 1930s and 1940s the Nazis stated intention was to wipe out all Jews (along with Slavs, Gypsys and some other groups). This is after centuries of pogroms in eastern Europe and Russia.

-In 1967 the combined armies of Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Iraq (some of the largest armies of the time, with at least two being heavily backed by the Soviets) were arrayed against Israel with the stated intention of wiping it out. The Israelis used French planes in that 6 day war because the US wouldn't sell them any; and the French had stopped supplying them, too, at the time of the war.

-In 1972 Israeli Olympians were murdered by Palestinian terrorists in Munich. The Palestinian prisoners taken by the West German government were later released to a staged plan hijacking that the West Germans were complicit in arranging.

-In 1973 Israel again faced off against its three large Arab neighbors.

-During the first Gulf War Iraq, which ostensibly was defending its invasion of Kuwait, launched missiles into Israel.

-Iran's leader has stated that he'd like to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.

-The Palestinian people just elected a party that has as one of its stated goals the elimination of Israel.

Let's just say Israel plays in one helluva tough neighborhood, one where the playground bully understands bullets and force much more than someone saying "sticks and stones."

I have tremendous sympathy for the Palestinian cause. But the Palestinians just can't get out of their own way. Until they can act responsibly in a way that Israel can work with, I don't think they're going to get what they want. Israel, like it or not, holds most of the cards. Terrorism is not going to work against Israel. That 50's and 60's "wipe them off the map" rhetoric that harkens back to the 19th century russian pogroms and the Nazi-caused holocaust has to go.

Arafat is gone and that's a good thing. Now is the time for responsible politicians amongst the Palestinians to step up and lead their people to work with Israel, be a good neighbor (or at least not a neighbor carrying bombs onto buses) and see what
can happen.

Hi! i don't actually know about the Palestine,Israeli feud, but i think from the little I've gathered,i think these whole problem could be solved if and only if the Palestine's changed their perception about the evil intent to wipe of the Jewish race, you only see to find fault with Israel, but to tell you the truth, the Ha mas and the so called Palestine people are bent on eradicating the Jewish race. And they have the full support of their other Islamic brothers, that also make us automatically gave them our support as a Bible believing nation."to every action there is an equal and opposite re-action"evil beg-at evil. They pretend to be innocent and carry their act in secrecy, whilst the Israeli st does theirs in open retaliation.think and gather facts before you judge.Peace

Ever notice that it's the left-wing secular fundamentalists who hate Israel and make apologies for the Palestinians who obviously don't want peace? Israel makes concession after concession and always pulls back a bloodied hand. Israel exercises a great deal of constraint.

Before you answer a question, you ACTUALLY HAVE TO READ IT. this one say "why we support Israel over Palestine?"
Now dont get the wrong idea, this answer doesnt take any of the sides. The reason why US supports Israel is that, most top officials are either Jewish or sponsored or lobbied by Jewish and thats why they support that country. AND THAT IS THE TRUTH.
-I dont want another smart *** to give me a answer to this, this is the truth and i am not taking sides.

There will be no peace until Jesus comes back. As for why we back Israel, I'm not sure. I don't know enough about it. What I do know is that Israel is God's chosen people (even when they are doing wrong) and if we are ever at war, I'd hate to not be on their side.

I guess (I actually can see !) you're just another ignorant fellow without a minimum knowledge about the conflict or the history of Israel.
You're just another "media-fed" lazy fast-food guy, Who talks out of I do'nt want to say where.
You are a superficial palestinian propoganda-fed brainless fellow.

I actually woul'dnt be surprized if you are a palestinian or some other cracked, brainless, media-fed liberal.
