its calming..and helps ease the pain..warm water helps contractions

i did the jacuzzi with my daughters birth..

It's actually a pile of nonsense, it is just to make mothers more relaxed and suffer labour less strongly. The trauma of birth has been shown to have benificial effects on children, and as for the amniotic fluid to water easey transition thing, the kid has to come up for air pretty wuick so I don't think those 5 seconds or so are going to make much of a difference. Sorry to be so negative but it really is a bit hippy, just take the drugs.

It's an easier transition for the baby since the baby is surrunded by amniotic fluid in the womb. It is also aids the mother with labor pains.

There are no pressure points on the mother, the warmth helps with contractions. I am sorry I couldn't do it, but I lived in the sticks. I am glad they at least had a hospital!

It is suppose to be an easier transition for the baby and less stress on your body.

I've also heard that it's less traumatic for the baby...because it is coming from liquid into liquid, rather than air.

being in water makes the contraction not soo painful
