The field for mechanical engineering is wide open. Project Engineer ,Front End Clean Room Assembler Machine Shop Technician Mechanical Engineer – Utilities Department
VA/VE Mechanical/Product Design Engineer Manufacturing Engineer Pioneer- Quality Pioneer- Production Engineer Area Manager Mechanical Engineer - these guys build bridges, buildings, have their hands basically in many, many projects - and the pay is excellent! Go on the website and look up all the different positions, pay and states where these jobs are located. Once you have your degree and are trained and working, you can just about call your own. One thing though - like many of these jobs - its' 'WHO' you know and getting with a group who can get those good contracts will keep you working. Plus, you will be able to do much work - on the side.

You can do a variety of things with a Mechanical Engineering degree. Any thing from Airplanes to Chemical factories, but to really succeed you need to get another engineering degree, math, or physics degree. A Mechanical Engineering degree is a very broad degree (You will always have a job unlike Biomedical or Chemical).
