Commit suicide...
Cowardice or bravery?
Tell me which one, and why?

2006-07-12 06:07:10 · 8 answers · asked by Lionel 2 in Social Science Psychology

Hey ! I don't wanna commit suicide, i 'm married and just had a baby, six weeks ago, so i'm happy as Paradise, but, i answered a question about it saying that he was a coward, so, i wanted to know what ppl think about it...
Talking about ppl who love you that you leave behind, if they love you so much why they don't help? why, if they're so close to you, they don't see what's happening?
Becoz, to get to the point where you wanna terminate your life, you must feel very, very alone...

I've read some of the answers before mine, and I doubt that many of these people have actually experienced being suicidal. Scientists have done MRI scans and chemical tests on suicidal people that show that they have chemical imbalances in their brains. It's these imbalances that cause people to feel suicidal(1). Anybody who has ever been suicidal can tell you that being suicidal is about being in horrible emotion pain. The agony is so intense as to be just as bad as physical torture (2). Most suicidal people who have not actually gone though with it will admit that it was because they were too scared to face the unknown (death), not because they were brave. It takes a brave person to do what needs to be done even if they know it could mean the end of their existence forever. My answer: BRAVERY!

Both. You're a coward to shrink away from life and it's bumps and bruises. A weakling. Brave, because not a lot of people wish to inflict pain upon themselves. You go against the basic urge of survival which is very strong. The cowardice is a lot more looked at though than the bravery, therefore it wins. In the eyes of people that kind of bravery = stupidity.

Except in the case of terminal illness...genuine end of life situations it is cowardice. Those who would check out rather than face their problems and fight their battles by whatever means necessary are thoughtless cowards with no regard for anyone but themselves. It is also laziness... the easy way out and anyone who has ever had to comfort those left behind by one of these cowards knows it for the loathsome act it is.

I wouldn't say it's brave but I try not to be too judgmental so I wouldn't call that person a coward, either. I think that you have got to be a very strong person to continue on with life and all of it's challenges and heartaches and it's the "easy way out" to end your life earlier.

cowardice. Anyone who takes there own life is a coward. Its us who learn to deal with our problems who are the brave. Life is what you make it so deal with it instead of checking out.

When it is done out of desparation it is cowardly. If you study Japanesse history and the Samari than you would be talking bravery. Samari do not exsist any longer though.
I say, there is no excuse for taking your own life.

Cowardice....because you would be running from your problems

It's also heartless because you leave the ones who love you behind and they are scarred for life.

It takes tremendous courage to live through the bad sh*t.
