is rice exported from india?

Hey... Am from India....its true that India had put a ban on the rice export. Rice is the staple diet of all Indians..almost every Indian cosumes at least 100g of rice everyday...and that means that we do have to have a good amount of rice to feed the population. Of late, for the last 1 month, India is facing scarcity of rice..and the prices in the domestic market had risen tremendously. Normal rice had cost 14-15 rupees a month before and not it is 24-25 in one months time. This has lead to millions of people to suffer who are not able to afford this price hike.. in order to have sufficient quantity to distribute via govt network, India had to put a control on the rice exports..this is just a temporary thing..and would be taken away once things are stabilized. Hope this does not go on for ever. I would also like to add..after reading the response to this question.. " THIRD WORLD COUNTRY" was a term which was used to indicate India and few other nations..but if you take a closer look at the economy..we can see that it would not be far when we would be using this terminology for the US OF A :)

rice is definetly exported in huge quanitites from India especially from Kandla
to the middle east.Any specific buing requirement let me let me know can guide you further
