OK, leaving out the Declaration, Jefferson wrote the Virginia Statute on Religious Freedom, which is the basis for our separation between church and state. He founded the University of Virginia. He is responsible for the decision to have our currency based on the decimal system, unlike the English system. He bought 1/3 of the American continent from France without having to use military force, and sent Lewis and Clark out to explore the west. He donated the books that formed the nucleus of the Library of Congress. Finally, he relentlessly championed liberty for individuals and freedom from governmental control.
