They make people wear seatbelts in vehicles, but what about motorcycles. I think you are safer in a vehicle without a seatbelt than on a motorcycle period. Don't you think this is very stupid?

Seahawksmd this comment is for you. Tell that to my friend. He hit a road sign and decapitated his leg, may lose his arm, and may not make it at all.

Zippy this comment is for you: If you would have read the question right. I said I think it is SAFER to be in a vehicle without a seatbelt than on a motorcycle PERIOD. Meaning that it is stupid that you have to wear a seatbelt in a vehicle and a motorcycle has no protection at all except for the helmet, but the helmet didn't help my friend at all.

I think it's stupid that some states don't even make motor cyclist wear helmets, but have the seat belt law. Go figure.

In a car, the interior of the car can be very harmful if you impact it since there is little space for you body to lose speed and momentum before impact. On a motorcycle, you have a lot more manueverability to avoid an obstacle, but when you do hit something, you are likely thrown from the bike. In that case, there is more space for your body to slow before impact.

The key here for the motorcycle rider is the helmet, because even a mild impact to the head can be fatal. I understand what people say about the wind in their face and hair, but I also understand that diving with sharks is supposed to be very cool. You won't find me around sharks without protection and you won't find me on a bike without a helmet.

Motorcycles are pretty scary machines. Technically, you are riding on a seat placed on the engine.

In New Mexico, there are not even any helmet laws for motorcyclists.

My husband had a friend in California (where they do have motorcycle helmet laws) that said "As soon as there where helmet laws, I sold my bike. There was just no point riding anymore."
To me, that was just like saying "As soon as there were seat belt laws, I sold my car. There was just no point driving anymore."

no. you are never safer in a vehicle without your seatbelt.
without your seatbelt, you become a projectile and will most likely be thrown from the vehicle and die.

but hey, check this out: an airbag for your motorcycle!

Some motorcycle manufacturers are now making seat belts for motorcycles. They can be assembled right to the frame of the bike. My step-dad has one on his bike.
