I am an avid yankee supporter.

the Sawx are playing some of their best baseball right now...
The yankees are old and hurt... I personally feel that they will take care of business in the second half of the season (they play their best baseball in the 2nd half)

Because they Yankees dont have the right pieces to be competitive against Boston. They're outnumbered. I'll break it down:

Starting Rotation: EDGE - Boston.....Schilling and Beckett have been the best 1, 2 punch in baseball, while the Yankees are struggling finding anyone but Mussina who can give them a solid outing.

Bullpen: EDGE - Boston...Papelbon is the best closer in the game this year and the Red Sox middle reliefe is far superior to that of the Yankees.

Catcher: EDGE - Boston...Posada is having a good year for the Yankees, but all around, Varitek is the better catcher.

Designated Hitter: EDGE - Boston...Ortiz is Big Papi, enough said. Although Giambi is having a great year for the Yankees.

1st Base: EDGE - Boston....Youkilis is having a career year and Andy Phillips is just starting out.

2nd Base: EDGE - Even....Mark Loretta and Robinson Cano both are having all star seasons.

Shortsop: EDGE - Yankees...Jeter is Jeter, not as good defensively as Alex Gonzalez, but a better hitter.

3rd Base: EDGE - Yankees...As much as I hate A-Rod, he's still better than Mike Lowell.

Left Field: EDGE - Boston...There's a reason Big Papi is so dangerous, his name is Manny Ramirez.

Center Field: Edge - Even....Coco Crisp is what Johnny Damon was before he got really good.

Right Field: EDGE - Boston....The Yankees have struggled in the outfield since Matsui and Sheffield went down and Trot Nixon is hitting above .320.

There's your reasons.

I don't think that no one believes that the Yankees will come in first. Rather I think that other teams are playing more exciting baseball. Of course, the more exciting teams will get the airtime.

Also, the Yankees are pretty banged up, with 4 or more players on the disabled list.

Man get ready for an avalanche of hate responses.

most will show the intelligence of "The Nation" ie "Yankees suck", "AROD's a Fag" etc,etc you will probably get very few factual comments with hard stats behind them because 90% percent of these Boston fans that are gonna chime in are Bandwagon fans that really don't know anything about the red sox or their history. The ones that are true fans will give you a real answer and not one that is just a bunch of hate spewing. So good luck finding anything that is intelligent enough to acknowledge with this question.

the yankess are enetering the second half with injured playes, damon, cano, hadeki, shelfield. plus the only pitcher doing any thing for them right now is wang ping ging goo goo gong and the rest like randy suck. so yeh this year the yankees actaully do SUCK. they have alot of new talented playes but they havnt played as long as there injured guys have and they may pull some bucky dents later in the future. on the other side the sox havepretty good pitching besides clement, and wells, i hate them but from wells i mean what can you expect from an ex yankke, right? the offense is huge as well as the defense, they lead in fewest errors. there closers are mint. as in papalebon, delcarmen, hanson. taveraz and seanez need a long prep talk. baseball tonight they say **** about every team, i mean there probably all kansas city royal fans. lmfao......

Becuase the Yankees SUCK !

The Yankees are a team that they buy people that all need Geritol and they can't keep enough to keep the team going. If they would have some faith in their farm system and do like the Marlins do and stock pile or something, they would be a lot better

I don't know because I sure think they can do it.If they get their team recovered from some injuries then it should be all good.I am always rooting for the Yankees in the playoffs but I really am this year this my favorite player, Aaron Guiel, just left the Royals to go with the Yankees.

Cano, Jeter, A-Rod, Melky, Damon, Wright, Wang, etc. They are not so old like everyone always says they are. Sure they have some old players but a great nucleus. A few months ago even after the Matsui and Sheffield injury the 'Boston Globe' and I quote them said "The Yankees are a better team".

They are not that much more knowledgeable than a fan who follows baseball, but there are a couple of reasons. They have some great offense, but they are missing Matsui and Sheffield.

Mike Mussina has pitched about as well as he can, and he isn't likely to pitch better in the second half. Randy Johnson is a question mark, and the rest of the starting staff is questionable, as well.

Rivera is great, but getting to him is tough. Villone has been decent, but nobody else is.

The Yankees are really old and desimated by injuries. The BoSox have better pitching, a better lineup, an easier second half schedule and a lead already.
