Unless you're using it for entertainment use like games and watching movies, I wouldn't recommend it. I'm using a Toshiba Satellite M40. Their CD/DVD burner is a good though. They had some problems some time ago in Japan but they're working hard to clean up their reputation (knew someone who used to work in there). I chose it because it was cheaper and more value for money back then while comparing it with IBM. If you're using it on a more professional basis, I would recommend Panasonic or IBM. Fujitsu is pretty decent too.

P.S. Yeah Pinko! Mine does that too, I was wondering about it recently until you mentioned it.

laptop computers can be a rather tricky buy at times, I would suggest that you look out for the cheapest and yet latest desktop on the market,

the best way to do this is on what they call warehouse sale markets some of them are online.

these warehouse owners have a service where they sell laptop computers to normal customers like you and me, however with very reduced prices due to the fact that they do not have as much costs as normal shops do, such as rent and a employees etc. as you know most online shops have rather competitive prices sometimes cutting the laptop price to a half.

one such website for laptop computers is :

or for a mac laptop

I own a Toshiba satellite notebook p20 it has many issues
1. Over-heats easily (cuz it has a p4)
2. Bad buffer on hard-drive
I would say go Dell I am told they are very good and affordable
