Zidane deserved the red card for his infraction. He should not have received it, however, if it was not seen by an official WITHOUT the use of video replay. FIFA laws clearly state that video replay cannot be used in a refereeing decision. It's rumored that the 4th official saw the incident on replay, then informed the assistant ref by headset communication. If that's the case, then none of the officials saw the head-butt live, in which case, it's up to FIFA to sanction Zidane after the match.

Well of course he deserved his red card. But the player he hit apparently deserved what he got. The referee had to red card Zidane, if for no other reason than to maintain control of the match. If he'd allowed Zidane to stay in, there would have been some retaliation, or further escalation.

Anyone who shows an unsportsmanlike conduct on the pitch deserves a red card, be he the great Zidane or some no-name obscure football player from the backwaters of some small country. In any sporting event, in fact, in all of the here and now, there should be no room for double-standardness.

Absolutely! Although I am sure it was provoked; he should not have reacted like that. There are rules in the game and they have to be followed, specially on that stage. On the other hand, after having played soccer myself for 10 years, I can tell you that there are things you can do on the field if you want to get back at a mean defender without getting that far and lossing a game. What he did was plain senseless. He just lost his cool.

no .. he did it right ... well what the italian player ..said desreved to be kicked off .....
he said him "Arab Terrorist"/... and that is not acc to "FIFA'S fair play".. so if a muslim would have done that ,,,they would have stopped his career .. but .. ofcourse not.. it was a non muslim who said it ..... so in thier hearts they encouraged him (the italian ).....well it doesnt matter getting a red card or not .... Zidane did the right thing.....
iam on his side .....
GOD BLESS HIM
