Probably not. Babies start sitting unsupported on average between 5 and 9 months old, and crawling between 6 and 11 months old. But some babies never crawl--they find other ways to get around, including creeping on their bellies and sitting and pushing with one foot.

If she is developing in some other way, then she is almost certainly fine. If she seems not to be developing at all or if you are still concerned, talk to your doctor and ask for a referral to an expert in development.

Please do not listen to the people who tell you to be worried. My daughter is 7 months old as well and can crawl about 1 or 2 steps with her arms shaking. She also can not sit unsupported or she falls over. Your daughter is still well within the normal limits, however, any time you have a developmental concern, check with your pediatrician. Good luck!

well, all children have their milestones at different ages, but I would be worried. Try putting her on the floor to play more. She should be at least sitting up by now. My 9 month olds just really got the hang of crawling last month. Good Luck!!

I wouldn't worry much about it. What I did with my children was: Get one of the really big beanbags and push in the middle of it, (so it looks like a bowl)and sit her in it. If she tips to the side, the beanbag will hold her up and she will be able to push herself up if she tips to the front. This really helps build the muscles needed for sitting up by herself.
I got my children to crawl by putting them on their tummy on the floor and placing their favorite toy just out of reach - so they had to move to get it. Then little by little I would move it further away. It wasn't too much longer that they were crawling.

Good Luck

Is she rolling over? My son was a big baby and he had trouble sitting up until he gained more muscle mass. He did roll to get to where he was going....funny as h311. Don't worry, I would give it a little more time. Try giving her something interesting to play with when you sit her up. Keep a gentle hand on her so she doesn't fall completely and let her pull herself back up to sitting if she wavers a little. Good luck and take care!

No its fine, She might realize that she isn't crawling or sitting up. She might just want to take her time. And if by the time she turns 1 she stil hasn't you may need to see a doctor. If you feel very woried you might start seeing a doctor now. Its your choice.
