I have been raising my Grandson for 13 years , he is now 16 . My daughter was going through a tough second pregnancy and asked me to help with him and he never left . He is my world , BUT, sometimes I ask myself, What are you doing ?, you already raised your kids !. He is my blood too , and I want the best for him . Is there anyone else out there doing the same thing ? Tell me how you handle it .

My grandmother raised me and I'm a better person for it. My mother could not handle five children on her own.You must be a very understanding person. I hope your grandson understands that you have sacraficed to give him a better life.

Well, its not me, its my best friend. Her daughter is a piece of you know what. She has her 2 grandchildren and its quite a job for her. They are really young though. She's had the youngest one since she was born - now she's 2. The little boy is 5 and is a handful. My friend (Barb) still has a daughter at home that is 15 and a son 21. She has her hands full. She never knows if she's coming or going. I don't know that I could do it. I have just my daughter who is now 15. My son is grown and expecting his first. I commend you for taking care of your grandson. Its a hard job but he needed you and you rose to the job so - good for you.

i lived with my Grandparents until i was 7, but that's because my mom was 17 and a single-mom. If you really think that living with you is better then i don't think it should matter how you're related to the person! If the mother is going through some hard times i think it is better for you to be watching him. He'll be going off to college soon, right? in a few years. There's nothing wrong with you raising him. I'm really close with my grandparents, and i think it's because i lived with them. Do what your heart tells you. Good luck

Well, I'm the aunt. I'm 16 and I watch my parents raise my two nephews. It's tough, but because the parents are going though a tough divorce in two different states, it's the best we can do. You just take each day as it comes trying to make them the best you can. Best of luck.

You can sue for custody but it is very expensive and if you lose you might not see your grandchildren again. If you are worried about their health and/or safety call Child Protective Services and let them investigate. If they find a bad problem they can remove the child from the home until the problem is fixed. Often the children are then placed with a trusted relative.

My husband & I are raising our grandson 14 yrs old. This morning I told him to start getting up earlier because he waits until the last minute to eat breakfast & rush out the door to school. He said NO 7:30 was too early to come down to eat. My husband said go pour some water on him in the morning because we weren't doing him any favors preparing him for later years. Any suggestions?

You need to have a frank discussion with your daughter. Raising teenagers is no walk in the park. Sounds like she needs to take some responsibility. What about the father?

I'm a mother of two and seems that life throws curve balls that are unexpected. You only have two more years to go, that can't be so bad?
