You know we are getting older, every single minute, every second of every day.

Because it is not a celebration of getting older. Your birthday is your anniversary of the day you were born.

well, we get older every second, true, but the word birthday refers to the day we were born, which comes once a year, which is when we celebrate. im sure you could celebrate every minute you get older, but that would be kind of hard....besides, on a birthday, you celebrate that youre one year older. in french, birthday is anniversaire, meaning something along the lines of "one year". then again, you can celebrate life in general by trying to stay happy and enjoy every minute of it as humanly possible.

Birthday stands for the day of your birth that it why every minute isn't your birthday. For it to work that way you would have to be born every minute of the day.

birthday refers to the date you were born. so yes we are getting older as each second passes by but its not the date you were born, thats why it cant be our birthday every single minute. plus, when asked how old are you? you cant say 782443548765432457835576413878373246573516574351 minutes

Birthdays are more of a milestone, marking every YEAR you get older. If they were every second, minute, hour, etc., then it wouldn't be special. Then you wouldn't have that big celebration every year. Don't we all like to celebrate something?

Because it's a birth-day. The DAY of your birth.

Yes, you're getting older all the time, but years are something significant to (most) humans. New year, anniversaries (meaning celebrated once a year, not the teenage 'monthiversaries'), birthdays, etc.

It's never your birthday ever again, after the day you are born. Just an anniversary of it. So, yes, why not have anniversaries every week or day or second if you want. Just don't expect presents!

Soo many reasons.

Like, would it be special any more if you celebrated constantly?

Would people go broke by getting anew b-day present 4 u every second?

And mostly, the world would run outa cake
