I am 18 and half weeks pregnant and have had cramps right the way through my pregnancy to date! The midwife explained that these cramps can be caused by the muscles and ligaments in and around your uterus expanding and being placed under pressure from all the extra weight you uterus is carrying. They can also be "growing pains" as your uterus expands.

Sometimes baby's kicks can also be felt as slight sharp pains.

My midwife told me that unless the pain is extreme and severe and maybe accompanied with blood loss then there is nothing to worry about.

No, this is a common time for miscarriage. I suggest you see an Obstetrician fully trained in both normal and abnormal pregnancy.

Not to worry!! This is very normal. If you feel uncomfortable about it, see your doctor. As long as it is not accompanied w/ bleeding.

Please, please, you need to be under a doctor's care now. There are ways to determine the severity, and the seriousness, of the cramps you are having. Please, see a doctor for care NOW. walky, retired OB-GYN doc
