Hip hop is an art form, not a religion. Rastafarianism has had clear leaders, holy books and a set of beliefs (which include the prohibition on cutting hair and eating I-tal foods).

neither. I've watched develop through the years and have come to see it is a new genre that hasn't been classed yet------"disposable culture"
this is not a put down of hip-hop, but an observation.
The real artists in this genre are the drum machine designers who create the sounds and the effects.
the stuff thrown over that is of so little consequence as to mean nothing except to those with limited education, or arrested emotional development who identify with it.
it's an easy way for record companies to get rich.
having said all that. I actually like hip-hop just like I like heavy metal. they're both pretentious, take themselves WAY too seriously, and are both basically stupid, but fun diversions

I can kind of understand why people would ask about it being a religion and people transform themselves into believing what is out in the celebrity life today but any music is an art and all them are different.
