Since you are saying that it's just your feet that have swollen overnight I would think that it's probably due to the heat and you being on your feet too much. Could be you're having too much salt in your diet also.

Since you have concerns, you should call your doctor though. I'd call today, just to make sure everything is ok. There are some things that you can get that would cause this kind of swelling, but most of the time other parts of your body would swell up too (finger, hands, legs, etc.). Never be afraid to give your doc a call at any time. That is what they are there for and what you are paying them for. The nurse might be able to answer questions for you too. Better to be safe than sorry later!

If you doc says everything is ok then you need to probably be resting more with your legs elevated. Sitting with them up on a foot stool or in a recliner is good, but laying in bed with them up on a couple of pillows is better. Try to watch how much salt you are taking in too...not only the added salt that you put on your food, but the lunchmeats, bacon, prepared foods, canned veggies, and even in soda.

My doc had me laying down for an hour, twice a day with my legs up. He had me get a tall glass of juice, go to the bathroom and then lay down for a full hour. He said it was up to me whether I slept or not, but under no circumstances was I to get up during those 2 times I was laying for the hour (no answering the phone or door if I didn't bring the phone with me). It did wonders. You need the rest and so does the baby and you will need more as time goes one.

Right now since it is so hot, your legs may tend to swell more too. Try to stay in from the heat. MAke sure to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated too.

Give the doc a call, just to be sure though!

congratuations and good luck!

Don't stand on your feet for long periods of time and when you do sit, elevate your feet so that they are above your heart. This will decrease circulation. Also you can put ice on them, but only for 15 mins at a time. Good luck and just know that your ankles may not return to normal until you deliver.

That could be a sign of pre-eclampsia. Call your doctor ASAP and he/she will most likely tell you to come in. The same thing happened to my friend at 6 months. It became so bad that it was life-threatening. They did an emergency c-section, and her little girl was born three months early. Baby and mom are doing much better now. The baby is still in the hospital, and she will probably be there for another month or so. But, please, call your doctor now!

First of all you should call your OBGYN.
Soak them in cold water this may help reduce the swelling, then prop them up. Laying on your left side can help with blood flow as well. Here are some web site to help you.

Sudden severe swelling (edema) can be a sign of preeclampsia. It'd be best to give your health care provider a call and let him/her know what's going on just to be on the safe side.

I had gradual swelling in my ankles during pregnancy and I found that soaking them in cool water helped.

Hope that helps, good luck.

Oh boy do I remember that feeling. When I had my first child, it was one of the hottest summers ever and my ankles looked like they were elephant feet. My doctor told me to cut down on the salt in my diet, and to try to elevate my feet as much as possible. Hope this helps. congrats on the baby!

yes! go to your doctor right now or to an emergency room, swelling like that is a sign of toxemia or pre-eclampsia
This is a very serious condition that needs immediate attention.I had the same thing in my 6th month with my first baby, only by the Grace of God we both survived!

Honey when I was six months pregnant my shoes won't fit any more the only way to ease the pain is to put them up in front of you like when you are sitting by the TV raise them just slightly than your waist this way it will help the blood go . Any way when you see the Dr ask him if he see it OK

prop them up and mention call your OB

it may be nothing but my feet swelled up and gradually the rest of me did but i didnt notice to much and eventually found out i had pre-eclampsia which can lead to eclapmsia if not treated and you dont want that. Can cause seizures.

Just check with your OB to be on the safe side.
They will be able to check the protein in your urine to rule out pre-eclampsia and you can relax.

call doctor right away! Is your face and/or hands swelling? This may be preeclampsia, or toxemia.
put your feet up on a cushion, and drink some water.
